What can I do for you?
The Process:
-
The first step you'll need to take is to contact me with information about your business and it's character, for example, where it is located, what it provides in services or products, and its standards, ethics, affiliations, public contributions, special events, and goals. I will also need to know what you would like to achieve with a website, and what sort of content you would like published on it. This will give me an idea of the scope of the project and guide me in my draft designs.
-
I will get in touch with you within two business days and obtain any other information I may need, as well as let you know what I'm thinking about for the website, a quote included.
-
Then I will put together some customized drafts at no charge for you; these are posted in your design center located in my website. I try to give my clients around five design concepts to choose from but will do as many as ten, if necessary. This is one of the most time consuming processes in the design for me! It's well worth it, though, because your satisfaction is my priority. Any of these design drafts may be altered at your request.
-
After you've picked out the main concept draft, which will most closely resemble your home page, I will design the content pages. These all usually have the same design as one another; I will put together up to three drafts for these. (It won't take as many drafts, since, at that point, I'll have a good idea of what will work with the home page, as well as your tastes.)
-
With the main draft and content drafts picked out, I require a deposit of 25% of the estimated subtotal. Once this is obtained, I will get started!
-
You'll be given a custom "Website Content Packet" to give you descriptions of the pages that we'll be including, as well as prompts/guidelines to help you write the content. You'll be responsible for sending me all of the photographs that I'll need to work with, as well as all of the information that is to be published. I can't get a lot accomplished without those items!
-
While the website is in the building stage, I will post parts of it in the design center, so you can suggest any alterations. Extensive editing, link checking, and tags will be completed as necessary.
-
Depending on the type of website, I might be able to develop it before you purchase your webhost & domain; however, I may recommend that you purchase it in the beginning so that some of the webhost components are available to me.
-
When the website is completed to my liking, we will set up a meeting, if possible, in order to review the site, get questions answered, give you some copyright forms (if I hadn't done so already), discuss updating plans, sign the final contract, and obtain the remainder of the design fee. Once this is said and done, I will upload the website to your domain, where it will be accessible to the cyber world.
-
You will have a short period after the final publishing to go through the website and make sure everything is right; if there are any minor changes that you'd like done, I'd be happy to complete them. After this period, changes will be considered maintenance and will be applied to your chosen updating plan.
And there you have it! My whole design process in a nutshell. It is a fair amount of work, but I feel that it's well worth it for most businesses.
Copyrights
I will provide you with US Copyright forms to be completed and sent
in with the application fee. The website will be copyrighted in your
business’ name to reserve and protect your rights to content.
Webhosting, Domain, and Other Web Components
I do have a preferred webserver company, Bluehost.com, and highly recommend it to all of my
clients because of their low-cost, large webhosting packages, great customer service, and quality, reliable webhosting service; however, clients are welcome to use others. Just let me know
if you have a webhost in mind already and I can check out what they offer. Other web components, if not included in your webhost, can be added as needed, but I'd like to say the Bluehost has always exceeded my webhosting needs with components and still has some of the most competitive rates I've seen (at about $100 per year). And, if you sign with Bluehost.com, your domain is free. In case you're wondering, I do get paid a small sum every time someone signs up through the below link, but I've been using and recommending Bluehost longer than being involved in their advertising program.

Please note: I strive to do the best job I can with each website, but understandably, as an amateur, I have my limits! What are they? Well, I currently don't have extensive graphics and imaging design software, and I am still learning about dynamic website design and coding. If you've got a website that may seem like too big of a job for me to handle, you have my word that I will let you know and refer you to someone that I feel would better suit your needs.
